Established in 1886, Thibaut (pronounced Tee-Bo) is the nation’s oldest continuously operating wallpaper firm. Thibaut’s product offering has broadened to include a variety of coordinating print fabrics, furniture, embroideries, and woven upholstery fabrics. Here’s a look at their newest collection of natural wallcoverings, Grasscloth Resource Volume 4 is filled with grasscloths, raffia, paper weaves, and sumptuous sisal.
“With a palette that is both bold and sophisticated, the striking textures of these wallcoverings provide a level of natural beauty, depth and dimension that few other home decor products can rival.”
Shang Extra Fine Sisal is just that – extra fine. It’s difficult to see the weave of this lovely paper. Hirshfield’s Design Studio staff tells me it looks as good as a Phillip Jeffries (high end) wallpaper. Plus, who can pass on Millennial Pink wallpaper? It is the color of Summer ’17.
Just as gorgeous as the subtle Shang Extra Fine is a chunky paperweave called Wicker Weave. All colorways are combined with white to give it a bit of an edgy look.
Named after the rugged stretch of California coast, Big Sur is a paperweave with a loosely drawn herringbone pattern printed on top.
