What’s the buzz? Tell me what’s a-happening.

Why should you want to know?
Don’t you mind about the future?
Don’t you try to think ahead?
Save tomorrow for tomorrow;
Think about today instead.

I have been waiting in anticipation for the announcement of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2011. I sometimes think I’m silly to get excited about color, with the depressing state of affairs that surround all of us, but it is the little things in life that makes one happy.

The big color reveal was yesterday and Honeysuckle it is. According to Pantone’s executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, “Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting…instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become a part of our everyday life.” It sounds like Honeysuckle is just what we need in our lives.

Keep your eyes open for this color in fashion, print ads, home accessories, nail polishes, logos, paint, and packaging, to name a few. You can even get a Honeysuckle Pantone Visa card.

I give this cheery color a stamp of approval. Some people don’t associate honeysuckle with pink and there have been grumblings that Pantone missed the mark. Your thoughts on Honeysuckle? Thumbs up or thumbs down?

In addition to Honeysuckle, Pantone is forecasting these colors for Spring 2011.

The Wall Street Journal has a good read on Pantone and the hue for 2011.

    I thought you would like honeysuckle, but then again you never know. It will be interesting seeing where it pops up throughout the year.
    Ditto on the orange.
