Friday Finds: Aging in Place

Murphy Bros.

“Aging in place” is defined as the ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level.

I came across three articles on “aging in place” at the remodeling website daily 5 Remodel and was pleasantly surprised to see one of the articles  written by Hirshfield’s customer John Murphy. John shares how his company, Murphy Brothers, addresses the issues of making homes safer and accessible for the aging population. The majority of older people want to stay in their homes, but at some point safety becomes an issue.

It’s something to think about as you spend time with your family over the holidays. Eldercare issues can be prickly topics of discussion, but these are conversations that need to take place. To learn more about aging in place head over to John’s article about Nellie Fischbach. She’s a rather amazing lady.
