The River Cray’s tranquil beauty inspired William Morris to create this striking design. The pattern creates a beautiful diagonal effect, and together with the backdrop of smaller flowers and larger peonies, it gives the wall a rich elegant feeling.

 

This mesmerizing pattern was first conceived in 1879 and its intertwined foliage continues to this day.

Although it’s over 100 years since he passed, iconic English designer William Morris continues to have a profound influence on contemporary design. With Hidden Treasures, a series of previously unseen William Morris sketches have been faithfully recreated by renowned Swedish designer Bjorn Nilsson.
