The Union Jack has always held a special place in my heart, but my love affair intensified when I saw this subtle rendition of the flag by Sara Habgood in Ideal Home magazine last year. I loved it. The neutral palette is very appealing to me as sometimes the traditional red, white, and blue is too strong of a statement for me. With the London 2012 Olympics only 481 days away, the interest in the Union Jack will be amped up and I am looking forward to all the different interpretations of my beloved Jack.

Union Jack flag with Benjamin Moore’s Amherst Gray walls
I want to try my hand at a DIY copy of Sara’s flag. I’m in need of changing around the pictures in my home and I should have an open wall; but for certain I’d like one for the side of our shed. I am not paying attention to the anguished cries of my offspring, “we already have two flags outside, that’s weird…dad, don’t let her do it.” Let the games begin.
