Color of the Moment

Emerald green simultaneously evokes a feeling of energy and the tranquility of nature, making it a diverse choice for Pantone’s Color of the Year. These nuances in the essence of green are relatable across the spectrum. The range in green hues are popular across the board with shades of chartreuse being a top pick.

Feeling Blue

Blue serves as the up-and-comer for 2013 and into 2014. The Mediterranean shade of Moroccan Blue is the color of choice. Complement it with ranging colors of blue for a look with depth. This will keep you on trend into the upcoming year as Kathy predicts Moroccan Blue will be the Pantone’s Color of the Year 2014.

Sunset Color Story

Pull from the sky to create this popular color combination of orange, pink, and red. The color of coral serves as the contributing factor to this theme’s success. Shy away from true oranges and true reds. Choose a shade between orange and pink to pick the perfect coral hue.

Grey Doesn’t Need to Be Gloomy

Grey isn’t new to the scene, but it has overcome it’s predecessor of beige. If you’re not ready for walls of bright and bold hues, grey can be used as the main color allowing you to take smaller risks with spots of color. Kathy does warn against grey with cool undertones, especially when living in Minnesota. There’s enough cold in Minnesota. Lean towards a greige that still leaves you feeling warm.

If you’re questioning your color choices for an upcoming paint project or interior design update, Kathy from Hirshfield’s Design Resource has the advice for you. For 2013 you can’t go wrong with Emerald Green, Moroccan Blue, coral, or grey.
