The post and hand-forged thumb of the wrought iron drapery hooks are made precisely the same way as they were in the castles of 16th century France and Italy. The several hundred-year old design of the hand-forged Country French hooks originated with a French cross from the 12th century. The acanthus leaves, grape leaves and grape clusters have been used in ironwork in one form or another since Roman times. Most of Antique Drapery Rod Company’s brackets and finials are cast directly from antique architectural fragments that were collected from all over Europe.
Antique Drapery Rod Company abides by ecologically and environmentally friendly processes in their design and construction of all components. They are the only hardware company known to use only recycled wood for their wood drapery rods. Wood stains arc water base. The lowest V.O.C. finishes possible are used, regardless of cost.
 Steel drapery rods are 100% recycled steel from an energy efficient mini-mill. Other steel products arc minimum 65% post consumer waste recycled material. Aluminum products are 100% post consumer waste material. All steel and aluminum may be recycled again.
Bamboo rods and rings are from the fastest growing renewable resource on the planet! The bamboo rods have been carefully selected for special size and quality. Aged to prevent splitting and treated with an organic pesticide. The Bamboo tortoise shell finish is a 3000-year old process that is hand done with fire, earth, and water using no paints or lacquers.
