CHERRY DOOR FOGGED WITH M.L. CAMPBELL AMAZING GLAZE
Every issue we will publish a sample of a special effect that can be accomplished with the ML Campbell lacquers.
This stained cherry door has had Amazing Glaze sprayed on it to create the aged look and to give it some depth. The “unglazed corner” shows what the cherry looks like with just the ML Campbell Traditional Cherry stain applied to the door. The “glazed corner” shows the difference a little glaze can do for adding depth and improving the overall appearance of the door.
The process is very simple, yet it can add a lot of value to the cabinet set and, ultimately, to your bottom line. The steps are as follows:
1) Stain the door with ML Campbell Traditional Cherry Stain.
2) Allow to dry for at least 30 minuets.
3) Spray on a clear coat about 2-4 mils wet. The clear coat you choose is dependant on the Amazing Glaze you are using. If you are using Amazing Glaze 1, then you need to use Duravar or Krystal for your clear coat. If you are using Amazing Glaze 3, then you need to use Magnamax.
4) Allow the clear coat to dry at least one hour. The longer you let it dry, the better off you will be.
5) Fog on your glaze. Do this in such a way that the glaze hangs in the corners, but is not very heavy on the flats of the center panel, rails and styles.
6) Allow to dry at least 10 minuets.
7) Apply 2 ML Campbell topcoats.
This process is fast, relatively inexpensive and yet it adds character and value to cabinets that can be reflected in you bottom line.
